Incursion Red River Dev Update #12 Previews a New Boss and UI Overhauls

The post also details Outskirts locations, optional food buffs, inventory tools, language support, and a package-size reduction from roughly 80 GB to 38 GB.

Incursion Red River‘s Development Update #12 previews new Outskirts locations, a boss called The Merchant, new weapons, and broad changes to the game’s menus and inventory. The Steam development update also covers optional food buffs, localization work, and performance improvements. It does not give a release date for the update.

Outskirts adds docks and a training site

The Docks are a smaller smuggling and distribution point in the Red River Delta, with UICS forces watching the area. Their layout mixes close-quarters spaces with longer sightlines, and the upper floors of nearby apartments overlook the strip.

The developers also say they have completed a UICS training outpost in the industrial zone. It centers on close-quarters drills inside a makeshift shoot house.

Food and drink items are now in the game, but they are not a survival meter players have to manage. Each item provides stamina and health buffs over time, and players can leave them behind if they would rather use the inventory space for something else. The food and drink preview shows the new items.

The Merchant and two new rifles

The next boss preview introduces The Merchant (Торговец), the leader of the Iron Guard Corps’ supply logistics. He and his specialized guards protect high-value shipments in person as they move through deployment zones, usually at night. His RGR gas grenade releases CS substance clouds for area denial.

The MK47 is an American-made AK variant built around the 7.62×39 round, combining what the developers describe as the AR platform’s versatility and modularity with that caliber’s firepower. It gives players another weapon that uses 7.62×39 ammunition, magazines, and attachments. The update also shows an MK47 animation and an M14 animation.

The M14 is chambered in 7.62×51 and is intended to fill the UICS faction’s lower-tier DMR role. The developers describe it as a heavy battle rifle with a modular chassis.

More responsive audio and clearer mission tracking

Weapon audio is getting new gunfire tail sounds designed to feel punchier and respond more to the surrounding space. The team is also revisiting gunfire and the sounds of inspecting and reloading weapons, alongside broader ambient audio work.

The mission screen separates missions into active, completed, and archived tabs, with item rewards, faction reputation, and XP gathered in one place. Completed missions include debriefings. After rewards are claimed, side missions leave the journal, while story missions move to the archive and can be revisited and tracked again. A mission UI preview shows the revised screen.

The GCPS tablet is also being reworked as a field tool. A new panel tracks missions and objectives with their progress, and players can select a waypoint for the nearest relevant objective. Operation markers show rewards, while objective markers show whether they are inactive, active, or completed. Hovering over a marker reveals its mission and status. The tablet interface preview demonstrates the changes.

Inventory updates and performance work

Players will be able to swap items directly in the inventory grid when both items fit in each other’s space. In the stash, pressing B starts a bulk sale, where players can select items, check the total payout, and confirm the sale in one step. Search and color-coded item categories are also being added. The inventory preview shows these tools, while a separate vicinity container clip demonstrates how nearby loose items, including magazines, will appear during a raid. Earlier inventory changes included rolling backpacks and support for loading different ammunition into compatible magazines.

The first localization pass adds German, Russian, Korean, Chinese, and Spanish, but the developers say it was made with AI and is not the finished translation. A backend that would let community members correct the text is being tested, with the goal of producing translations reviewed by speakers of each language.

The team reports cutting the game’s package size from roughly 80 GB to 38 GB and changing its packaging settings to support smaller future patches. It also reports about 20% lower CPU usage from optimization work, while GPU improvements remain a goal. Intel XeSS is on the way as an upscaling and frame-generation option alongside the existing FSR and DLSS options.
