Dynamax Moltres remains a focused investment in Pokémon GO in 2026, rather than an all-purpose pick. Roughly 20 months after its first appearance, it still leads one Max Attack role, but stronger Fire attackers make it a lower priority for that type.
The Pokémon GO Hub October 1 analysis compares Max Attack damage, not overall battle DPS. Its figures put Moltres fourth among Fire-type attackers, behind Gigantamax Cinderace, Gigantamax Charizard, and Dynamax Darmanitan. Cinderace deals 22.2% more Max Attack damage than Moltres, Charizard deals 15% more, and Darmanitan deals 4.5% more. Dynamax Flareon sits just below Moltres, at 1.9% less.
That Fire-type gap matters with Gigantamax Cinderace scheduled to return October 3 for a Max Battle Day, as detailed in the event announcement. If Fire damage is the goal, Cinderace is the stronger target for your resources.
Flying is where Moltres stands out. It ranks first for Flying-type Max Attack damage, ahead of Dynamax Unfezant by 9.4% and Dynamax Charizard by 10.5%. Dynamax Corviknight trails by 33%. That lead gives Moltres a clear purpose if your Max roster needs a Flying attacker, even though some bosses may have stronger counters of other types.
Moltres also has a narrower defensive use. Its Fire and Flying typing gives it double resistances to Bug and Grass attacks, where it currently ranks fifth and seventh as a tank. Those positions would fall to 17th against both types in the projected full roster, so the matchup advantage is useful but not future-proof. Moltres also lacks a 0.5-second Fast Attack, which makes it less suited to quickly filling the Max Meter. Zapdos can learn 0.5-second Thunder Shock through an Elite Fast TM.
Dynamax Moltres has 251 Attack, 181 Defense, and 207 base Stamina, with a Level 50 maximum CP of 3,917. Its Fast Attack options are Fire Spin and Wing Attack, and it can use Max Flare or Max Airstream. Rock attacks are doubly effective against it, while Electric and Water attacks are also weaknesses. In return, it resists Bug and Grass twice, as well as Fairy, Fighting, Fire, Ground, and Steel.
The case for farming Moltres is strongest if you want its Flying damage or need a switch-in against Bug and Grass attacks. If you have spare Max Particles, it can still fill those gaps, but it is harder to justify as a Fire attacker with stronger choices available. Where would Moltres fit in your Max Battle roster?
