007 First Light Update 1.2.2 Will Add Recommended Path Tracing Settings
The hotfix will also target severe RTX 5070 frame-rate drops, Path Tracing visual glitches, and stuttering in online Escalations.

007 First Light Update 1.2.2 is being deployed on September 25 with a new option for recommended Path Tracing settings, performance improvements, and a long list of visual fixes. IO Interactive detailed the changes in its Steam announcement.
The hotfix follows the previous Update 1.2.1 hotfix, which focused on GPU hangs and crashes after the Path Tracing update. Version 1.2.2 takes a wider approach by addressing frame-rate drops on RTX 5070 cards, online Escalation stuttering, and visual problems across the campaign.
Players who do not want to tune every graphics option manually will be able to enable recommended default settings. IO Interactive also provided specific guidance for RTX 5070, RTX 5080, and RTX 5090 cards, including target resolutions, Path Tracing quality levels, and NVIDIA DLSS options.
Recommended Path Tracing settings
After updating the game and graphics drivers, IO Interactive recommends restoring the graphics defaults before making any additional changes. The option is available at Options -> Graphics -> [R] Restore to defaults. VSync can be turned off if that better suits the player’s display and preferences.
- Use Medium Path Tracing on RTX 5070 and RTX 5080.
- Use High Path Tracing on RTX 5090.
- Use 1080p on RTX 5070, 1440p on RTX 5080, and up to 4K on RTX 5090.
- Set Resolution Scaling to NVIDIA DLSS.
- Set DLSS Super Resolution to Auto.
- Enable DLSS Multi Frame Generation, which ranges from 2X to 6X. Dynamic Multi Frame Generation can adjust the multiplier automatically to maintain a steadier frame rate.
IO Interactive expects around 60 fps at 1080p on RTX 5070 and around 60 fps at 1440p on RTX 5080, although results will vary by mission and checkpoint. Adding 2X DLSS Frame Generation with DLSS Super Resolution set to Auto should keep performance above 60 fps across the game.
RTX 5090 cards can reach more than 200 fps with 6X DLSS Frame Generation, according to the developer. Medium Path Tracing remains the recommended balance because the High setting uses more detailed shading, higher-quality reflection detail, and more light bounces. High is currently recommended only when using an RTX 5090.
