Blizzard has confirmed that its upcoming StarCraft game will not be an Xbox exclusive, but the statement still does not confirm where the 2030 project will appear. Windows, PlayStation, Nintendo, and other platforms remain unannounced, leaving the game’s full availability unresolved.
Blizzard introduced the project at BlizzCon on Sept. 12 as an open-world shooter set 70 years after StarCraft II: Legacy of the Void. The reveal included an animated mood trailer rather than gameplay, and Blizzard has not provided a specific release date beyond the 2030 window.
Following BlizzCon, Kotaku asked Blizzard why additional platforms had not been announced. A spokesperson gave a narrow response, saying, “We can only say for now that StarCraft won’t be exclusive.”
When asked whether that meant the game would also come to other consoles or would only be available on PC, the spokesperson did not provide further clarification. Blizzard only indicated that it would correct any claim describing StarCraft as an Xbox exclusive.
The platform question is especially notable for a Microsoft-owned franchise with a long PC history. The original StarCraft and most later entries arrived on Windows and Mac, but that history does not confirm a PC release for this specific project. It also says nothing about possible versions for PlayStation or Nintendo systems.
For now, the firm details are limited to a 2030 target and Blizzard’s insistence that the game will not be limited to Xbox as an exclusive platform. Gameplay, a precise launch date, and the full platform list are still missing.
