Dune: Awakening 1.5.3.1 Hotfix Will Add 6 Decorations and BattlEye-Free Launching

The client-side download also fixes single-player vehicle data, terrain spawns, mission progression, and a Deep Desert discount bug.

Dune: Awakening version 1.5.3.1 will bring a useful batch of changes when the hotfix finishes deploying. Funcom’s Steam announcement details a new six-piece decoration set, a BattlEye-free launch option for select modes, server configuration support, and fixes across stability, exploration, vehicles, story progression, and the Deep Desert. The hotfix follows the September 17 launch of Update 1.5, which brought the full single-player mode and final Book One chapter to Dune: Awakening on September 17.

Players who log in between September 17 and October 22 will have access to the new decoration set. It contains a banner, two chairs, two tables, and a carpet. The update also adds an option to launch the game without BattlEye for single-player, private, and self-hosted servers that do not require the anti-cheat software.

Multiplayer servers with BattlEye enabled will still require it. Trying to join one from a client without BattlEye will produce an error, so the new launch option is aimed at the modes and server setups that do not use the software.

Self-hosted server operators also receive a new UserServerCustomSettings.ini file in the steamcmd download folder. Applying it to the UserSettings folder activates the newly added custom settings.

The hotfix requires a client-side download. If it does not appear automatically, players should restart their Steam client. Servers will be coming back up shortly.

Dune: Awakening 1.5.3.1 Patch Notes

The fixes cover several smaller but practical problems, including low-resolution vehicle textures, failed resource gathering, NPC stagger locations, single-player vehicle modules, black screens, terrain spawns, missed story cinematics, and a Deep Desert building-cost reduction that was not applying.

FEATURES AND CHANGES

  • A new set of decorations is now available to players who log in between September 17 and October 22. This set of 6 pieces includes a banner, two chairs, two tables, and a carpet.
  • Updated game thumbnail.
  • Added the option to launch the game without the BattlEye anti-cheat software installed or enabled for the single-player mode, or private and self-hosted servers that do not require it.
    • BattleEye is still required to play on multiplayer servers with BattleEye enabled. Trying to join a multiplayer server from a client without BattleEye will result in an error.
  • Added a new UserServerCustomSettings.ini file for self-hosted servers, which can be found in the steamcmd download folder. This file can be applied to your UserSettings folder to activate the newly added custom settings.

  • Fixed an issue where interacting with certain Plant Fibers failed to yield resources and left the plant in the world.

  • Fixed an issue where the Across the Gap: Refuel the sandbike journey step could fail to register as a completed step after the bike had been refueled.

Landsraad & Deep Desert:

  • Fixed an issue where the building cost 50% reduction in Deep Desert wouldn’t apply.

Graphics, Animations, and VFX:

  • Fixed an issue that could occur with falling/jittery movement while walking on buildings.
