Valheim Patch 1.0.15 Will Tackle Terrain Duplication and Improve Deep North Armor Drops
The patch will take a few days to reach every platform, while crossplay remains available and affected players receive workarounds for lost item levels.

Valheim Patch 1.0.15 will address terrain duplication that has caused visual seams and lower performance, while also improving Deep North armor mould drops. Iron Gate outlined the changes in its Steam announcement on September 18, 2026, and said the patch will take a few days to reach every platform.
Players affected by duplicated terrain may still see seams after updating. Iron Gate recommends deforming the terrain along those seams or walking through the snow in the affected area to clear them. Once removed, the seams should remain gone after the area is loaded again, unlike before the patch.
Deep North progression also receives two useful changes. Both types of Jotun Warrior will now drop medium and heavy armor moulds, increasing the chance of getting the mould needed for a particular armor set. Writhan will also appear more often and across a larger range of areas.
The update follows Valheim Patch 1.0.14, which added expanded keybinding options and fixes for multiplayer saves, Deep North content, audio, and platform display issues.
What to do about lost item levels
Iron Gate also explained why some items on item stands and armor stands lost their levels and variants. The 1.0 save format conversion discarded that data, and the problem was not found during testing. Patch 1.0.12 corrected the conversion for worlds loaded from that point onward, but it cannot restore data already lost during an earlier conversion.
Players who were affected have two recovery options. They can revert the world to the backup created when it first used the new save format, although doing so will erase world progress and changes made since that backup. Alternatively, they can copy the backup, load that copied world, place the affected items on their character, then return to the main world and replace the broken items.
Some cheated item fixes are still planned
Items incorrectly marked as cheated will receive another fix in an upcoming patch. That change has to launch on every platform at the same time to protect crossplay, so Iron Gate says affected players can continue playing normally for now.
Patch 1.0.15 does include a related dev-command adjustment. Items affected by dev commands will no longer receive the cheated mark for characters who have enabled the dev bypass command. Naming has also been updated, and those items can stack together again.
Crossplay will remain functional while Patch 1.0.15 reaches the remaining platforms, so players can continue joining friends even if their systems receive the update at different times.
