007 First Light Update 1.2.1 Fixes Path Tracing Crashes

The hotfix addresses crashes in several missions, while IO Interactive says more performance work is planned over the next couple of weeks.

007 First Light Update 1.2.1 is a hotfix for issues reported after the game’s Path Tracing update. The new build fixes crashes and rendering faults across several chapters, while IO Interactive continues working with NVIDIA on performance reports and hardware-setting questions. The developer published the full changes in its Steam announcement. The feature arrived through IO Interactive’s September 15 Path Tracing update, which set the September 15 rollout before this crash-focused hotfix.

Most of the fixes target Path Tracing-enabled sequences in Chapters 1, 3, 6, and 9. They cover a helicopter shadow issue, several Chapter 3 crashes, lighting and checkpoint problems in Chapter 6, plus two Chapter 9 crashes. A separate stability fix addresses a crash after the Chapter 3 mission debrief while Bond is heading to the Q-Lab.

IO Interactive described Update 1.2.1 as the first step toward improving the performance problems some players have reported. More improvements are planned through additional updates and hotfixes over the next couple of weeks.

The notes also record AMD FSR Upscaling support that came with the Path Tracing update. On supported AMD Radeon RX 7000 and 9000 series cards using RDNA 3 or RDNA 4, the game automatically selects FSR 4.1 when FSR is selected as the in-game upscaling method. Other cards use FSR 3.1 instead.
