Warhammer 40,000: Darktide’s Free Depths of the Damned Update Will Add Spillway and 6 New Weapons
Scheduled for September 29, the update will also introduce a mini story campaign, a new live event, and the mysterious Prophet of Decay.

Warhammer 40,000: Darktide will descend deeper into Hive Tertium on September 29, when the free Depths of the Damned update arrives. Fatshark outlined the new content in its Steam announcement, including a mini story campaign that reaches its climax in the new Spillway level.
Spillway takes strike teams into the Water Cartel’s domain, a sprawling network of tunnels, waterways, and forgotten passages beneath the Hive. The mission will force teams to choose their routes carefully, since some paths through the decaying labyrinth are more dangerous than others.
The update will also add 6 new weapons. The new weapon families are the Ogryn Cruncher, Huntsman’s Shotgun, and Ogryn Thugshot. Four new weapon marks will round out the arsenal with the Crusher Krourk MK VII, Double-Barrelled Shotgun Krouk Mk IV, Gromm Mk I Battle Maul, and Mk V Slab Shield.
Something worse than ordinary Chaos forces is waiting below. The Prophet of Decay is described as a powerful Psyker who has claimed the depths of the Torrent, although Fatshark has not yet revealed what the Strike Teams will face there. The update will also include a new live event, a store rotation, and quality-of-life improvements.
The September update follows Beyond the Hive’s Expeditions, which took Darktide’s missions beyond the familiar hive interiors and into dangerous open areas of Atoma Prime. Which of the 6 new weapons are you most interested in trying, and will Spillway’s branching routes make the mission stand out?
