War Thunder’s Lavochkin Birthday Sale Cuts 2 Soviet Fighters by 30%

Dolgushin's La-7 costs 2,695 Golden Eagles and the La-11 costs 3,416 through September 14 at 09:00 GMT.

War Thunder is celebrating Soviet aircraft designer Semyon Alekseyevich Lavochkin’s birthday with a 30% discount on two Rank IV fighters. Dolgushin’s La-7 costs 2,695 Golden Eagles, while the La-11 is available for 3,416 Golden Eagles.

The promotion runs from September 11 at 09:00 GMT through September 14 at 09:00 GMT. Both aircraft are located under USSR > Aviation > Premium vehicles, and neither can be purchased after the offer ends. Gaijin Entertainment detailed the sale in its Steam announcement.

Two Soviet fighters are discounted

  • Dolgushin’s La-7: Rank IV, priced at 2,695 Golden Eagles.
  • La-11: Rank IV, priced at 3,416 Golden Eagles.

Dolgushin’s La-7 belonged to Sergey Fyodorovich Dolgushin, a Hero of the Soviet Union who commanded the 156th Fighter Aviation Regiment. Its distinctive camouflage sets it apart, while the aircraft’s low-altitude performance and two 20 mm ShVAK cannons make it suited to close fighter engagements.

The La-11 takes a different approach. It is a long-range escort fighter with enough fuel for extended flights and performs best at altitudes up to 4,000 meters. Its three 23 mm NS-23 cannons provide the firepower to attack bombers and other aircraft, although the design gives up some maneuverability in return.

Why War Thunder is honoring Lavochkin

Lavochkin was born on September 11, 1900, and became known for aircraft including the LaGG-3, La-5, and La-7, which served Soviet aces during the Second World War. After the war, he headed OKB-301, which worked on aircraft and contributed to the S-25 “Berkut” surface-to-air missile system.

Following Lavochkin’s death in 1960, the design bureau was named after him. It later became known for spacecraft connected to the Luna, Venera, Mars, and Vega missions, and remains in operation today.
