Eternal Anima Will Launch for PS5 on March 4, 2027 With Final Fantasy and Persona Veterans

The turn-based JRPG follows Wade through a time-traveling story where psychic powers can reveal enemy attacks before they happen.

Eternal Anima, a new turn-based JRPG created by several Final Fantasy and Persona veterans, will launch for PS5 on March 4, 2027. The project was first teased in 2023 under the name Project Life is RPG, but it now has a full title and a confirmed release date.

The creative team includes director Katsuhisa Higuchi, whose credits include the Final Fantasy series and Chrono Trigger, along with story concept writer Keisuke Makino, who worked on Persona 5 and Metaphor: ReFantazio. Scenario writer Kazushige Nojima, known for his work across the Final Fantasy series and the Final Fantasy 7 Remake trilogy, is also attached to the project.

Time travel sits at the center of Eternal Anima. Wade will attempt to repair the present by entering memories from the past, giving the story a way to move between different periods while he works to correct what went wrong.

The idea also carries into combat. Wade’s psychic abilities will let players preview enemy attacks, creating opportunities to predict what is coming and respond with the right counter. Battles will use a turn-based system, with that ability serving as one of the game’s main strategic tools.

Eternal Anima also uses an art style inspired by older Japanese RPG adventures. The project has not been announced for any other platform in the material available here, so PS5 is the confirmed destination for its March 4, 2027 launch.
