Wreck Runners is offering Xbox Insiders an early look at its September Update on Xbox Series X|S. The free playtest runs from Friday, September 4, at 10:00 AM PT (17:00 UTC) through Wednesday, September 9, at 10:00 AM PT (17:00 UTC), and players do not need to own the game to join.
Crews can bring up to three friends aboard the ORCA and test an unreleased build with content planned for the September Update. Xbox Wire’s September playtest announcement follows an earlier Xbox Insider test before launch in July.
What the Wreck Runners playtest adds
The new build takes crews beyond familiar salvage runs with several additions to discover:
- Temples introduce an entirely new location type for exploration and salvage.
- Runner color customization gives players another way to personalize their characters.
- A dangerous new underwater enemy hunts beneath the surface.
- Paranormal Progression creates new choices as crews push through a run.
- Trustwell Lost Salvage rewards exploration beyond familiar areas.
- New hazards and interface improvements are also part of the build.
15 more languages are included
The development build adds support for Arabic, German, Latin American Spanish, French, Italian, Japanese, Kazakh, Korean, Polish, Brazilian Portuguese, Russian, Turkish, Ukrainian, Simplified Chinese, and Traditional Chinese.
Players who use one of these languages can provide feedback on anything that feels unclear, unnatural, untranslated, or difficult to read. Since this is an unreleased build, bugs may appear and some content can change before the September Update arrives.
How to join the Xbox Insider test
Xbox Series X|S owners can access the playtest through the Xbox Insider Hub by following these steps:
- Sign in on an Xbox Series X|S console and launch the Xbox Insider Hub app. Install it from the Store first if needed.
- Open Previews > Wreck Runners.
- Select Join.
- Wait for registration to finish, then install Wreck Runners Playtest! from the Store.
How to report problems
Feedback from the test will help Disruptive Games prepare the September Update. To report an issue, hold the home button on the Xbox controller, select Report a problem, choose the Games category and Wreck Runners Playtest subcategory, then fill out the form with the relevant details.
