Bodycam’s Next Update Will Bring Metro-Style Menus to Its Gunfights
An in-world tactical tablet will handle options, game modes, server browsing, and social menus without pausing the action.

Bodycam will replace its conventional full-screen menus with an in-world tactical tablet in an upcoming update, letting players access options, game modes, the server browser, and social menus without leaving the match.
Reissad Studio showed the feature in action, and the interface takes a clear cue from Metro. Instead of placing a large menu over the entire screen, the game keeps the tablet inside the 3D world as part of the player’s equipment.

Metro’s menu idea finds a new home
The Metro series has used physical objects such as clipboards and wristwatches for maps, quest information, and other menus. Metro Exodus continued that approach, giving the system plenty of fans even as some players preferred a regular menu that pauses the action.
Bodycam’s version comes with an obvious tradeoff. Because the tablet exists inside the game world, opening it will not freeze the match. Enemies can still shoot and kill players who are adjusting settings or controls, which turns even a quick menu visit into a risky decision.
That also means there is no safe pause for everyday interruptions. Answering the door, grabbing a drink, or stepping away from the computer could leave a player exposed. A floating HUD would protect against that problem, but Reissad’s tablet puts the focus on staying aware of the battlefield.
Bodycam’s realism push continues
The tablet joins Bodycam’s distinctive camera presentation and gritty visual style as another attempt to keep its systems inside the world rather than placing them over it. Reissad is also preparing a separate September update featuring trench warfare, adding another layer to the game’s increasingly harsh combat scenarios.
Whether players enjoy the change will depend on how often they need to use the tablet during a firefight. The Metro-inspired design looks stylish, but it also asks players to accept that managing a server or checking an option can carry the same danger as crossing an open room.
