The Elder Scrolls 6 still has no confirmed Xbox console exclusivity, even after Xbox CEO Asha Sharma was asked directly about Bethesda’s long-awaited RPG at Gamescom 2026. Sharma did not answer the platform question, instead calling the game “a beautiful game.”
During a BBC interview video at the event, Sharma was asked about Xbox’s wider plans for exclusive games. She said every platform needs some form of exclusive experiences and content, then pointed to Gears of War: E-Day and Clockwork Revolution as examples of games planned to be exclusive to Xbox consoles.
Sharma also said Xbox would continue pursuing that strategy while balancing it against the health of the business. That gives a clearer idea of the company’s direction, but it still leaves The Elder Scrolls 6 in an awkwardly quiet spot. When Sharma was pressed about the game specifically, she smiled and replied, “it’s a beautiful game.”
Bethesda’s next Elder Scrolls game began development before Xbox acquired the studio, and it was announced more than eight years ago. Since the short teaser shown in 2018, the game has received only a handful of public updates, and Bethesda still has not announced a public release date.
The latest development context came after Sharma’s August 11 Bethesda visit, where she experienced a live playthrough and praised the game’s scale, grandeur, and story. The visit was also met with protests over Xbox layoffs, adding another layer to the limited public conversation around the project.
For now, Xbox has confirmed its desire to maintain some console exclusives, but it has not said whether that policy applies to The Elder Scrolls 6. Until Bethesda or Xbox gives a direct answer, the game’s console launch plans remain unknown.
