Road to Vostok will reveal the release date for Build 2 during the FPS Games Show on September 3. Developer Antti Leinonen confirmed the plan in the August SITREP, while warning that the Nomads update still has a few important tasks left before it can launch.
The FPS Games Show will focus entirely on first-person shooters, with updates, reveals, and trailers from several studios. Road to Vostok will receive a short segment featuring an intro and a Build 2 teaser, followed by the release-date announcement. The event’s promotional graphic gives a 7 p.m. BST start time, and its YouTube broadcast page is already available.

Build 2 is nearly ready
Build 2, also known as Nomads, is close to completion. The remaining work is concentrated around polishing the new maps, tuning AI-versus-AI combat, adding task-based items, and putting the build through more playtesting.
The July development update had Build 2 roughly 75% complete and targeting September 2026, as covered in our July development update. The exact release date has not been shared yet, but September 3 will finally provide that missing piece.
Nomads, the Garage, and a new boss
Leinonen also shared a closer look at the Nomads, who will become a new presence in the game world. Their camp scenes show the faction gathered around shelters and campfires, giving the upcoming build a more populated feel than the game’s usual lonely treks through the border zone.
The new Garage shelter is another part of the update. Build 2 will also add a trader named Driver, whose bus can appear in different locations across the game world instead of staying in one fixed spot.

Two new maps are in the works as well. Bridge will act as an optional crossing point toward Vostok, replacing a mine-avoidance route with platforming challenges. Its modular construction lets the developer change the layout quickly, with the possibility of dynamically changing bridge arrangements during future visits. Barbed wire and other hazards can also be added across the structure.
The other new location is Airfield, a Vostok map that is now mostly ready. Leinonen also showed the first look at Bogeyman, a special boss that was originally meant to stay hidden until the FPS Games Show.
Build 4 continues its weapon overhaul
Work is moving forward on Build 4, called Gunslinger. The build centers on a major weapon overhaul and around 50 custom-made weapons created from scratch. New additions shared in the August update include the Jatimatic MOD, M/28-30 + MOD, and KS-23 + MOD.
Build 2 will also introduce several new items. The previews include Aluminum Foil and a Foil Hat, because even a harsh survival game apparently needs room for a little tin-foil weirdness.

A short break comes before the September push
Road to Vostok will take part in the Steam Autumn Sale with a 25% discount. Leinonen said the sale timing should line up with Build 2’s release window, although the update does not provide the sale dates or the build’s launch date yet.
Leinonen also planned to take roughly one week off starting August 27 before returning for the final development push in September. Most of the product designs for the Road to Vostok merchandise store are complete, but more information about the store will come after Build 2 is released and stable. The planned merchandise includes Road to Vostok velcro patches.
