World of Tanks Update 2.4 Will Bring 5 Tier XI Tanks Into Battle

The WZ-219's Infrared Search and Track system narrows its scan sector over time while increasing its view range and reducing enemy concealment inside it.

World of Tanks Update 2.4 will bring 5 Tier XI tanks into battle, giving players a new tier of vehicles to learn and master. One of the featured machines, the WZ-219, comes with a specialized spotting tool that can expose hidden enemies while gradually increasing the danger of revealing itself.

Wargaming’s Update 2.4 overview details how the new vehicle content works, including the WZ-219’s Infrared Search and Track system, or IRST.

The WZ-219 turns spotting into a risky decision

Once activated, IRST scans a section of the battlefield in front of the WZ-219. The scanning area becomes narrower as the ability continues, but the tank’s view range within that area increases. Enemy concealment also drops, making targets easier to detect as the system builds toward its strongest effect.

Detection does not immediately mean full visibility for both vehicles. At first, the WZ-219 and the detected enemy receive each other’s interface markers. If the scan continues, complete two-way spotting can follow. That gives WZ-219 players a tactical choice. They can switch the system off before the effect reaches that point, or keep it active and accept the risk of exposing their own tank.

Update 2.4 timing remains unannounced

The announcement does not confirm a live date for Update 2.4, so the 5 Tier XI tanks and the WZ-219’s IRST should be treated as upcoming content rather than features confirmed to be available now.

The update also includes 63 Personal Missions for Operation Fossa, split across 3 routes with 21 objectives each, as detailed in our Operation Fossa missions breakdown.
