Marvel’s Wolverine has reached gold status, putting Insomniac Games’ PS5 adventure on track for its scheduled September 15, 2026 launch. The studio announced the milestone on August 21, more than three weeks before release, giving fans another reason to keep their claws ready.
Going gold means the game has reached its final major production checkpoint before release, with a release-ready build prepared for launch. Insomniac can still spend the remaining weeks on bug fixes and smaller changes based on preview feedback, but the biggest pre-release hurdle is now cleared.
Insomniac celebrated the milestone in an official Instagram post, writing, “Today, we’re popping claws in celebration. Marvel’s Wolverine has gone gold!” A short official video shows Logan popping golden claws and confirms that players will be able to unlock and equip the Gold Claws in the game:

The studio also shared a claws-themed announcement with the #WolverinePS5 hashtag on Bluesky.
The milestone closes out a complicated development cycle. Insomniac announced Wolverine five years ago, then dealt with a major leak in 2023. The studio also released Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 that year, adding another large project to its workload while Wolverine continued through production.
Marvel’s Wolverine takes Logan in a darker direction
Insomniac’s next Marvel project moves away from the structure of its Spider-Man games. Marvel’s Wolverine will focus on a more linear campaign, a darker tone, and harsher combat built around Logan’s claws and mutant abilities.
Wolverine will rejoin the mutant task force known as Team X as Bolivar Trask begins kidnapping mutants. Logan’s mission will take him across several locations, including Canada, Japan, and Madripoor.
Other mutants will join Wolverine during the campaign, with Jean Grey and Sabretooth among the characters confirmed to appear. The September launch now has a clear production milestone behind it, with Logan’s next adventure heading toward its PS5 release.
The September launch also puts the PS5 adventure ahead of GTA 6, which is due in November. For now, though, Wolverine has cleared its biggest pre-release hurdle, and September 15 remains the date when Logan’s next adventure will reach players.
