SWTOR 8.0 PTS Expands With Overworld Difficulty Modes and New Class Balance Tests
Subscribers can test Guardian/Juggernaut and Operative balance work, along with Legacy Level 60 perks and 10 new levels tied to the start of Game Update 8.0.
STAR WARS: The Old Republic has expanded its Game Update 8.0 test build on the Public Test Server. Players can now try Difficulty Modes in the overworld, test balance work for two more class groups, and check out the first Legacy Level 60 perks.
The new additions are detailed in the latest Steam announcement. Guardian/Juggernaut and Operative balance testing joins the earlier Sentinel/Marauder, Sage/Sorcerer, and Vanguard/Powertech changes already available at level 85.
The update follows the first 8.0 PTS phase, which also included the first boss from the Children of Nul Operation in Story and Veteran modes. The current iteration adds the following test content:
- Difficulty Modes
- Class balance updates for Guardian/Juggernaut and Operative
- Legacy Level 60 and new character perks
How Difficulty Modes work in the overworld
Difficulty Modes let players change their personal difficulty while traveling through the game’s overworld. At present, difficulty selection is limited to personal instances and grouped content. Game Update 8.0 will let players adjust it outside those activities without changing the experience for their friends or group members.
The setting only affects the individual player. Changing difficulty can alter damage received, healing received, and experience gains, while other members of a group keep their own personal settings.
Legacy Level 60 adds six new perks
The PTS build also lets players see Legacy Level 60 content ahead of the full 8.0 release. Ten new levels will be available when Game Update 8.0 begins, with the following perks currently included:
- Medical Probe Affinity I
- Medical Probe Affinity II
- Medical Probe Affinity III
- Improved Rest and Recharge I
- Improved Rest and Recharge II
- Improved Rest and Recharge III
