Minecraft Dungeons II has a new official gameplay trailer, and the sequel is also pointing players toward a brand-new dimension. In its August 20 Xbox Wire update, the upcoming dungeon-crawling adventure put its latest setting and gameplay focus front and center.
A new dimension is a pretty big door to open, especially for a sequel that was first announced during Minecraft Live on March 21, 2026. The original reveal focused more on the game’s mood and setting, while also teasing an unnamed threat, dangerous encounters, and locations that had not appeared in the series before.
The original Minecraft Dungeons launched in May 2020 as a top-down action RPG and has reached more than 25 million players across platforms. Mojang Studios developed that adventure with Double Eleven.
Minecraft Dungeons II remains planned for fall 2026
Mojang Studios still has Minecraft Dungeons II planned for a fall 2026 release. The sequel is expected to launch across PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and both Nintendo Switch models.
The new trailer gives the game another chance to show how its follow-up adventure is growing beyond the original dungeon runs. For now, the new dimension is the biggest piece of the sequel’s latest reveal, and it gives the next journey a fresh place to cause some blocky chaos.
