STALKER 2 Patch 2.0 Benchmarks Point to a 10–20 FPS Gain Ahead of Its August 20 Release

Early tests using an Intel Core i7-14700F and GeForce RTX 4080 show the largest gains in areas crowded with NPCs.

STALKER 2 Title Update 2.0 is scheduled to arrive on August 20, 2026, alongside GSC Game World’s Cost of Hope expansion, but early PC benchmark videos have already offered a preview of its performance. The first results point to gains of roughly 10 to 20 frames per second, with the biggest improvements appearing in busier areas.

Early tests show larger gains around NPC crowds

MxBenchmarkPC compared the upcoming build with the launch version on a system using an Intel Core i7-14700F and an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4080. Under those test conditions, Patch 2.0 delivered around 10–20 additional FPS. The comparison covered 4K and 1440p testing with Epic settings, along with DLAA, DLSS, and Frame Generation configurations.

The same testing also points to Unreal Engine 5.5 as the version powering the updated build. It does not indicate a move to Unreal Engine 5.6 or 5.8.

A separate comparison from Cheeki Breeki found a similar pattern. Less populated sections gained about 10 FPS, while areas filled with NPCs reached improvements of around 20 FPS. The difference suggests that crowded locations, where CPU demands can rise sharply, stand to benefit the most from the update.

Patch 2.0 also changes the game’s visuals

Performance is not the only difference in the tested build. The Zone looks more saturated than it did at launch, while shadow-heavy areas show clear visual improvements. Players who preferred the original color balance may notice the change immediately when the update arrives.

Stuttering has not disappeared entirely, either. The early footage suggests that it is less severe than in the launch version, but players should not expect a completely stutter-free experience. Testing in the Garbage area also found only occasional hints of slowdown on Epic settings, compared with the small hitches and performance dips seen in an earlier build. The performance gains also will not turn STALKER 2 into an easy game for low-end PCs; the results come from a high-end RTX 4080 system and should be viewed in that context.

Some improvements seen in the current build may also come from patches released before version 2.0. The comparison followed a long period away from serious play, so not every change can be attributed to the upcoming update alone.

With the patch still scheduled for August 20, these videos provide an early indication rather than a final picture across every PC configuration. Tell us what you think about the expected performance gains in the comments, and follow us on X, Bluesky, YouTube, Instagram, Steam, and Telegram.
