Escape From Tarkov “Accidental Witness” Quest Guide

Follow the Streets extraction and trader handoffs in order, then finish the evidence trail on Shoreline.

Accidental Witness sends you across Customs, Streets of Tarkov, and Shoreline. Its Streets extraction accepts either a Survived or Run-Through status, so a full survival status is not required for that step. Follow the trader handoffs in order before returning to Customs.

Requirements and objectives

The requirement is to locate the white scribbled-on car in the courtyard of the dormitories on Customs.

The quest then sends you to investigate Kozlov’s residence, ask traders about Anastasia, search an apartment on Streets, extract from Streets, and follow the evidence through Customs to Kozlov’s hideout on Shoreline.

Several branches are marked optional, but some of their item entries are marked required. In particular, the room 110 key and letter, along with Reshala’s work notes and courier belongings, have conflicting status labels. Check the active quest tracker before skipping any of these pickups.

Needed equipment

Item Use
Dorm room 110 key Opens Kozlov’s room on Customs. The room investigation is labelled optional.
Zmeisky 3 apartment key Opens the accomplice’s apartment on Streets of Tarkov.
Reshala’s bunkhouse key Opens Reshala’s stash on Customs.

The objective list marks finding the Zmeisky apartment key and Reshala’s bunkhouse key as optional, but each key is needed to enter its associated location. The three key entries have no Found in Raid requirement listed. The document and evidence pickups are listed as requiring Found in Raid status.

How to complete Accidental Witness

Accidental Witness Customs maps showing the two-story dorms, activation car, Pasha's wooded spot and Reshala's bunkhouse near Lab and Boiler Building.
The Customs steps use separate locations around the dorms and Reshala’s bunkhouse. Room 110 is on the first floor of the two-story dorms; the activation car is between the dorm buildings, while Pasha’s spot is in the woods to their west.
Accidental Witness building maps locating Chekannaya 13 for Anastasia and Zmeisky 3 for the accomplice, with their different apartment floors labelled.
The accomplice’s apartment is apartment 7 on the first floor at Zmeisky 3. Anastasia’s separate apartment 7 is on the second floor at Chekannaya 13, with the mailbox documents downstairs.

Investigate Kozlov’s room on Customs

In the first-floor room 110 of the two-story dorms, pick up and read the note on the wall below the room number. To investigate the room, unlock it with the Dorm room 110 key and read the letter on the nightstand. The optional Note from the repair shop is on the kitchen wall beside room 110.

The objective list labels the room investigation optional, while its item list marks the key and letter required. Complete the room branch rather than relying on the optional label alone.

Ask Skier about Anastasia and search the Streets apartment

Use the trader screen to ask Skier about Anastasia. Then go to the first floor of the Zmeisky 3 building on Streets of Tarkov. The apartment entrance is on the backyard side, and the door is marked apartment 7. Use the Zmeisky 3 apartment key to enter.

Pick up and read all four documents in the apartment. Each has multiple possible spawn points:

Document Possible locations
The Ninth Circle Issue #19 On the wall to the right after entering the living room, or on the wall beside the armchair.
Tarkov Herald summary On the armchair, in the bottom compartment of the shelf beside the TV, or in the bottom compartment of the bookshelf.
FSB report In a drawer below the TV, or on the windowsill beside the TV.
The Ninth Circle Issue #14 On the wall beside the kitchen door, or on the right-side wall in the kitchen.

Extract from Streets and complete the trader handoffs

Leave Streets of Tarkov with either Survived or Run-Through status. After the extraction, report to Skier through the trader screen, then talk to Ragman there.

Find Anastasia’s apartment and the mailbox documents

Locate apartment 7 on the second floor of the Chekannaya 13 apartment building on Streets. For the investigation, go back downstairs and pick up and read the Letter from the mailbox and the Tarkov Herald newspaper with an article by A. Mikhailova, both found in the mailbox.

Search Pasha’s ambush spot on Customs

The ambush spot is beside the two-story dorms on Customs. Find the bicycle and pick up and read the Unsealed envelope next to it. Report to Skier through the trader screen when the objective is complete.

Investigate Reshala’s bunkhouse

Find Reshala’s stash in the bunkhouse on Customs and use Reshala’s bunkhouse key to enter. Pick up and read the three notes inside. They are on the left wall, on a stool, and on the right wall.

The objective list marks obtaining Reshala’s work notes and courier Pasha’s belongings as optional, but their item entries mark them required. Collect all three notes rather than treating those labels as settled.

Collect Kozlov’s evidence on Shoreline

Regional and close-up maps of the same house 3 in the eastern part of Shoreline's West Village for Accidental Witness.
House 3 is in the eastern part of Shoreline’s West Village. Collect the audio tape from the flower bed beside the entrance; the optional newspaper clipping is inside the same house.

Go to house 3 in the eastern part of Shoreline’s West Village. Pick up and listen to the Audio tape with incriminating evidence in the flower bed beside the entrance. The Newspaper clipping with a photo of Anastasia is optional and lies on the floor inside the house.
