Modern Warfare 4’s Beta Will Be Much Bigger Than a Multiplayer Test

The upcoming test will include an "Entrenched" campaign mission, seven multiplayer maps, and Warzone's Zodiac Resurgence map.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 is bringing far more than a multiplayer sample to its upcoming beta. Infinity Ward confirmed that the test will include an “Entrenched” campaign mission, seven multiplayer maps, and a first look at Call of Duty: Warzone content.

The previously announced beta schedule has the early access session running from August 21 through August 25, 2026, for players who pre-order the game, followed by the open beta from August 28 through September 1, 2026. The new details give players a much clearer idea of what will be available across both sessions.

Call of Duty’s official X post described the test as the first beta to bring all three parts of the franchise together:

“For the first time ever: Multiplayer. Campaign. Call of Duty: Warzone. All in one Beta.”

Modern Warfare 4 Beta Content

The campaign portion will feature the “Entrenched” mission, marking the first time a Call of Duty beta has included playable single-player content. That test mission fits with Modern Warfare 4’s larger war missions, which are expected to sit alongside more focused tactical operations.

Multiplayer will offer seven maps across the two beta weekends. The pre-order phase will feature five new multiplayer maps and nine modes, while the open beta will carry that content forward and add more maps and modes. Available modes will include Team Deathmatch, Domination, Search & Destroy, 3v3 Gunfight, and Inflation and Mobility Course. The playlist will change between the first and second weekends, giving players different combinations of maps and modes to try.

Kill Block will also appear in the beta. The map includes more than 500 configurations, making it one of the more unusual additions to Modern Warfare 4’s multiplayer lineup.

Warzone is getting its own place in the test as well. Players will be able to try the new Zodiac Resurgence map, giving the beta a battle royale component alongside its traditional multiplayer and campaign offerings.

The full game is scheduled to launch on October 23, 2026, for PS5.

The campaign is set during a North Korean invasion of South Korea and features dual perspectives: a young South Korean soldier named Private Park facing his first combat deployment, and Captain Price operating outside official channels on a personal mission. The game also includes multiplayer with 6v6 core maps, large-scale vehicle combat maps, and a dynamic map system called Kill Block that reshapes layouts between rounds. A DMZ extraction mode is also featured. The game is released exclusively on current-generation platforms and PC.
