Dune: Awakening will bring its disc-based PlayStation 5 edition to stores on September 22, 2026. The same rollout will include the console version, single-player mode, and a major update, while Gamescom attendees will receive an early hands-on look at what is coming.
Funcom outlined the plans in its Steam announcement, which also featured new concept art and a selection of community creations from across Arrakis.
The physical edition launches September 22
The physical release will give PlayStation 5 players a boxed copy with a disc. Pre-ordering will also provide two bonuses: the Terrarium of Muad’Dib and the Sunset Dye Global Swatch.
Pre-order options are available through Bandai Namco, Amazon, EBGames, and GameStop.
The announcement also points players toward a video recap covering the content added to Dune: Awakening since launch.
Dune: Awakening heads to Gamescom in August
Funcom will return to Gamescom in Cologne, Germany, with a presence in Hall 6 from August 26 through August 30, 2026. Visitors will be able to try the upcoming console version and single-player mode before the September launch.

Water Shipper weapons get a concept-art spotlight
Senior Concept Artist Ricky Westwood is the focus of the developer section, which presents the Water Shipper Drillshot and Water Shipper Rapier. Their flowing lines and covered workings build on the look of the Water Shipper scout ornithopter, while padding motifs from the character designs help connect the two visual styles.
A circular design element gives the weapons a shared industrial identity and helps define their silhouettes.
Community creations fill the latest Signal
The community section includes a handmade Crysknife by u/Agreeable-Worker7659, whose bone-like finish came from printed PLA, tea, alcohol inks, epoxy, and polishing. More images of the project are available in the creator’s Reddit post.

Other featured work includes u/schwifty_wifty’s reference image for Landsraad house swatches, Starwolf84’s Dark Citadel built with Harkonnen and Water Shipper pieces, and a scorpion-shaped base by u/futerko_profi. The swatch collection is shown in a Reddit post, while the two bases appear in separate posts about the Dark Citadel and scorpion build.
Creators featured in the next Signal can receive keys for the Atreides Battle Rifle Skin, giving builders and artists another reason to share their work from Arrakis.
A separate video tour also covers the scorpion-shaped base featured in the community roundup.
The September launch and Gamescom preview give Dune: Awakening players plenty to discuss. What do you think of the physical edition, solo mode, and community creations? Share your thoughts in the comments, and follow us on X, Bluesky, YouTube, Instagram, Steam, and Telegram.
