Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 Patch Reworks the Fresh Start Suit After Fan Criticism
Version 1.005.001 adjusts the costume's colors and materials and adds battle damage.
Insomniac Games released version 1.005.001 for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 on August 7, 2026. The patch updates the free Fresh Start suit, which is based on Spider-Man’s costume from Spider-Man: Brand New Day, after players criticized its appearance.
Fans had pointed out differences between the in-game outfit and the movie design. They also noticed that the costume did not pick up battle damage in the same way as Peter Parker’s other outfits.
Insomniac confirmed the changes in an August 7 post on X, saying the update was based on player feedback and was already live.

What the Spider-Man 2 suit patch changes
- Colors: The Fresh Start suit has adjusted colors to bring it closer to its movie counterpart.
- Materials: The costume’s materials have been changed to better match the on-screen version.
- Battle damage: The outfit can now show battle damage, bringing it more in line with Peter’s other suits.
The movie costume has received plenty of attention of its own. Tom Holland previously described the design as a blend of the Spider-Man suits worn by him, Tobey Maguire, and Andrew Garfield, as detailed in Tom Holland’s comments about the suit.
A Reddit comparison shows the original and updated versions side by side, with the newer design appearing in the second image. The revised colors may not satisfy everyone, since some players still think the blue is too light. Others would prefer a more cloth-like finish with visible wrinkles.
Even with those remaining complaints, the patch gives the Fresh Start suit a closer connection to the movie and responds directly to feedback from the Spider-Man 2 community.
