Jason Momoa’s Blanka Makes a Wild Entrance in the Street Fighter Movie

The live-action Street Fighter movie has revealed Jason Momoa’s first major scene as Blanka, and the character arrives with exactly the kind of wild energy the film’s trailers have promised.

The clip takes place inside what appears to be a penitentiary, staging a cage-like fight between Andrew Koji’s Ryu and Blanka. David Dastmalchian’s M. Bison watches from above as a chained-up Ryu is confronted by the feral fighter.

Momoa’s version of Blanka has orange hair, green skin, and sharp claws, while also bringing several familiar moves to the screen. The preview shows him using his rolling attack and signature two-foot kick.

Blanka wastes no time showing off his signature power, electrocuting another prisoner with a flash that briefly turns the victim into a video game-style skeleton. Ryu tries to explain that he does not want to fight, but the situation quickly turns into a battle anyway.

Ryu fires a hadoken as the two clash, creating a scene that is completely over the top without losing sight of the character’s video game roots. The tone matches the earlier footage, including the B-movie energy seen in previous Street Fighter movie footage.

The preview also features YouTuber Maximilian Dood in a cameo. The cast includes Noah Centineo as Ken, Cody Rhodes as Guile, Roman Reigns as Akuma, Callina Liang as Chun-Li, and 50 Cent in an undisclosed role. GamesRadar reports that Kitao Sakurai is directing the adaptation, which aims for a louder and more colorful take on the fighting game series than the 1994 movie.

Whether the rest of the film maintains this same approach remains to be seen, but Blanka’s introduction certainly makes a strong case for the movie’s larger-than-life style. The film is due out on October 16, 2026.
