Alpha Nomos is bringing rhythm-based combat and instrument weapons to Xbox Series X|S. The game stars Cello, a fighter whose attacks, dodges, and movement all work best when timed to the music.
In its Xbox Wire announcement, the team described Alpha Nomos as a rhythm-action roguelite set in a ruined world. Abandoned cities and corrupted arenas are now filled with hostile puppets, leaving Cello to fight back with instruments rather than traditional weapons.

The instruments use live-recorded performances instead of simple samples. That audio is tied directly to the action, so staying on the beat helps Cello strike harder and move more cleanly. Missing the rhythm has an immediate effect on the fight.
Musical upgrades also change more than Cello’s abilities. Each new layer can alter the way she fights while adding to the soundtrack, allowing every run to build its own version of the game’s music.

Runs are designed to be replayed, with arenas that progress as players move forward. Returning for another attempt brings the chance to improve both skill and strength, while the timing of attacks, enemy movements, and music gradually comes together.

The team behind Alpha Nomos said the project is its first commercial release. The game grew from the idea that rhythm could serve as the foundation of the experience instead of sitting on top of ordinary action mechanics.
