World of Warcraft’s Patch 12.1 Calendar Entry Points to an August Launch

The Tidebound Grotto is scheduled to open on August 19, one week after the expected North American patch date.

World of Warcraft Patch 12.1 has picked up another clue pointing toward an August release. Blizzard has not confirmed the date, but the latest Public Test Realm build lists a calendar schedule that lines up with the current timing.

The patch is currently expected to arrive on August 11 in North America and August 12 in Europe. That window matches World of Warcraft’s eight-week patch cadence and the scheduled end of the Turbulent Timeways event on August 11.

The Tidebound Grotto points to August 12

The clearest evidence comes from The Tidebound Grotto, a new instanced World Boss raid coming with Patch 12.1. The PTR calendar now lists the activity for August 19.

That timing fits an August 12 launch for the European version of the patch, followed one week later by the start of Midnight Season 2. The same schedule would place the North American update on August 11, with the new season and The Tidebound Grotto opening on August 18 in that region if Blizzard uses its usual regional rollout.

The PTR calendar is a useful sign, but it is not a final announcement. Blizzard can still change dates before the update reaches live servers. For now, August 11 in North America and August 12 in Europe remain the clearest dates for Patch 12.1.
