A 10-Hour World of Warcraft: Forever Beta Run Turns Up New Durotar Quests and Flight Paths
The level 14 orc mage session also pointed to profession additions, altered early rewards, and several changes that remain unconfirmed.

New quests, extra flight paths, and several small systems changes are already appearing in the World of Warcraft: Forever beta, although the first look comes from one 10-hour session rather than broad testing. A level 14 orc mage run covered Durotar, the Barrens, and the edge of Stonetalon, turning up differences from the familiar early Horde route.
The beta opened on September 17 and is scheduled to run through October 22, with characters capped at level 30, according to the World of Warcraft: Forever beta schedule. The session began with some lag and included one disconnect, but the player still reached level 14 during the first day.

Durotar and the Barrens have new stops along the early route
Valley of Trials now includes profession quests, while Razor Hill has several quests that were not part of the player’s remembered route through the area. A new murloc quest also appeared along the Durotar coast around level 9. One familiar revenge quest has changed its target from a crocodile to a hippo, adding an odd little surprise to the starting-zone experience.
Echo Isles now contains a small village with a flight path, even though Razor Hill still does not have one. Another village with quests and a flight path sits near the western Barrens and Stonetalon border. Crossroads sends players farther south at the start of its questing route, while the Forgotten Pools quest was either removed or simply not encountered during the session.
Travel between the early hubs may also become more convenient. A traveling goblin between Razor Hill and Orgrimmar sells profession and trade supplies along with a few early green items. Orgrimmar has a second bank in the Valley of Spirits in addition to its main bank, though access to the extra location may be limited to orcs or guild members.
Early rewards and mage combat feel slightly different
Green quest rewards began appearing around levels 7 and 8, earlier than the player remembered from Classic Era. A quest weapon earned after defeating the large goblin in the canyon west of Razor Hill provided +4 Intellect on a staff intended for the level 10 to 12 range, which seemed stronger than usual for that part of the game.
Fireball also appeared to cast slightly faster for the mage without the related talent, while mana regeneration felt a little quicker. Mobs seemed easier to defeat as well, although class changes could explain that impression. General chat included players calling warlocks overpowered, but that reaction was not backed by a broader test.
Other small changes included a Plainstrider dropping three beaks at once and reagent vendors selling coriander with no clear use identified yet. The early talent setup appeared consistent with designs shown before the beta, though the session did not cover enough content to confirm how the systems work at higher levels.
HD settings bring sharper detail and strange visual changes
The HD toggle did not extend the maximum visibility distance, but it made distant objects look more defined instead of leaving them as indistinct shadows. Music sounded more detailed to the player, and harpy screeches seemed closer to eagle calls than the older sound. Orgrimmar guards also displayed an apparent visual glitch when HD graphics were enabled, which is more likely to be an unfinished presentation issue than an intentional feature.
A possible Ironforge thread may be hidden in the early Barrens content. A guard in the lookout tower reportedly referenced a vault in faraway Ironforge before directing the player toward Ratchet. That could connect to future content, but the session did not confirm whether the dialogue leads to a dungeon or a larger questline.
