Diablo 4’s New Hotfix Gives Mythic Hunters Better Odds in Undercity

Mythic Tribute of Armaments rewards are now greatly improved at Torment X and guaranteed at Torment XII, while Season 15 will replace random Mythic rerolls with a direct upgrade.

Blizzard has released another Diablo 4 Season 14 hotfix, giving players a better way to farm Mythic items through Undercity activities. The changes are part of the ongoing effort to address the poor Mythic availability introduced with the Season of Death Awakening.

The biggest adjustment affects the Mythic Tribute of Armaments. Players running Undercity at Torment X now have a greatly increased chance of receiving a Mythic, while a run at Torment XII guarantees one.

The hotfix also adds Superior Lair Keys to the final Glints of Hope cache. That gives players another way to build up their supply of keys, gather Pandemonium Fragments, and reach the encounters that can provide Mythic rewards. A previous hotfix also removed the limit on crafted Mythic equipment, as detailed in the earlier Mythic crafting changes.

These changes follow weeks of complaints about Mythic and Unique item availability. Some players reported spending hours in Season 14 without finding specific chase items, while the one-crafted-Mythic restriction also made character planning more difficult.

Season 15 Will Change Horadric Cube Mythic Crafting

Blizzard has also confirmed a larger change for Season 15. Mythic reroll crafting will leave the Horadric Cube, and the replacement will upgrade the original Unique item directly instead of returning a random item from the same class.

“We’re removing Mythic reroll crafting and adding a direct upgrade to Mythic that preserves the original unique item,” senior Diablo series community manager Marcus ‘Marcoose’ Kretz said in a developer note referenced by Cliptis. “We’ll evaluate bringing back this rule for that specific crafting path only.”

Under the current system, a Mythic upgrade can produce a random item from the relevant class, meaning the Unique used in the recipe is not guaranteed to become the reward. Cliptis suggested that Blizzard could restore the one-crafted-Mythic restriction if the new direct-upgrade path arrives, but that possibility has not been confirmed by the developer.

The new hotfix should make Mythic farming less punishing in the short term, while Season 15’s proposed crafting change will give players more control over the item they are upgrading.
