College Football 27’s July 16 Update Reworks Dynasty Progression

EA confirmed new Career, Simulation, and Casual Coach XP settings alongside recruiting fixes and Road to Glory adjustments.

EA SPORTS College Football 27 will receive its next Title Update on July 16, 2026, bringing new progression settings to Dynasty, recruiting adjustments, and fixes for Road to Glory. EA outlined the changes in its latest official Campus Huddle post.

The update follows the removal of paid progression options from Road to Glory and Online Dynasty on July 11. EA’s latest explanation focuses on how progression is meant to work across both modes rather than adding standalone XP sliders.

Dynasty gets three Coach XP settings

College Football 27’s Dynasty Blueprint is designed around a longer career arc, with meaningful Coach Point choices spread across a 20–30-year Dynasty. Coach Level is not a simple record of wins and losses. Instead, it provides Coach Points that can be spent across skill trees and perks.

The maximum Coach Level remains 100. EA said players are not intended to unlock every perk, which keeps archetypes, staff hires, recruiting, school resources, and program goals important throughout a career. Coach XP also comes from active archetype perks, staff members, wins, goals, performance, and annual contract payouts.

The July 16 update will replace the current Coach XP sliders with three settings. Career uses 1.0x XP and becomes the new default. Simulation uses 1.25x XP, while Casual uses 1.5x XP. The new options will apply to existing Dynasties and will be available in both Online and Offline Dynasty.

Online Dynasty commissioners will choose the setting for the entire league. The settings also affect CPU coaches. EA said the former “Fastest” option will not return because faster progression allowed too many coaches to reach top abilities early and reduced the impact of Dynasty’s wider systems.

Road to Glory progression stays tied to the full mode

Road to Glory will not receive separate XP sliders. Progression remains connected to difficulty, weekly decisions, Fitness, NIL deals, Wear and Tear, Legacy Score, scholarship bonuses, and on-field results.

Higher difficulty creates greater progression opportunities, although players can still reach the maximum rating on Freshman over the course of a career. Annual scholarship bonuses provide additional offseason progression, while playing through High School grants an early progression modifier that is skipped when that portion of the mode is bypassed.

EA also explained that OVR ceilings are tied to Legacy Score. Building that score through on-field performance is part of raising a player’s long-term ceiling. The developer will continue to monitor the system and make future tuning changes where needed.

Patch Notes for the July 16 Title Update

The update addresses Dynasty recruiting, Road to Glory position battles, and gameplay stability. EA also previewed more fixes planned for a future update, including additional recruiting work and gameplay changes.

Dynasty Recruiting Updates

  • Adjusted recruiting tuning to improve how CPU controlled teams compete for highly rated recruits.
  • Improved how CPU teams prioritize and retain recruits after extending offers.
  • We have tuned late cycle recruiting scenarios that could leave some recruits without viable offers.
  • Adjusted recruiting balance to better reflect expected recruiting distributions.
  • Adjusted offseason player progression to increase across the board

Dev Note: We wanted to dive deeper into this change, this will be 2 part fix with the first part going in tomorrow, and the second in a future title update. You may still see some recruits not have offers but you should see a significant reduction in how many are available.

Dev Insight: Changes should be seen immediately when you log back into your Dynasty. However, full changes from this update will be more evident in your next season or a new Dynasty.

Dev Note: This will result in more players being 90 OVR or higher as you get deeper into your Dynasties.

Dev Insight: We will have a second update that will come in a future title update that further adjusts this to further improve recruiting generation and Player Progression.

Future Dynasty Recruiting Fixes

  • Fixed an issue where recruits being pursued by Hawaii could incorrectly receive an F grade for Proximity to Home.
  • Fixed an issue where a player’s Risk of Transfer bar could display incorrectly after making a valid NIL offer when the player’s current NIL valuation was more than double their expectation.
  • Recruiting budget tuning for schools.

Road to Glory Progression

  • Addressed an issue where EDGE players in Road to Glory could fail to trigger position battles required to advance on the depth chart.

Dev Note: We have an additional fix planned for next week’s update that should fully resolve this issue.

Dev Insight: We recommend if you are encountering this issue to transfer to another school until next week’s update is available.

Dev Note: Thank you to everyone who continued sending reports and feedback on this issue. Those details helped the team track down the specific cases where position battles were not triggering properly. The team will continue to monitor feedback around this situation to make sure that this is working as we intended.

We are also tracking an issue where some players are unable to apply Cap Breakers in Road to Glory. We plan to have a fix for this in an upcoming title update so stay tuned!

Gameplay

This Title Update includes gameplay stability fixes as we continue to gather and evaluate player feedback.

EA is targeting another gameplay focused update for the following issues:

Defensive Package Reset During Hurry Up Offense:

  • Fixed an issue where a custom defensive package selected by the defensive user would not persist if the offense immediately ran hurry up or no huddle offense.
  • Defensive packages should now remain consistent instead of resetting back to the default package in these situations.

Switch Stick Input Delay:

  • Fixed an issue where Switch Stick could sometimes feel delayed when quickly swapping to different players.

The July 16 update gives Dynasty players more control over progression speed while keeping Road to Glory tied to its broader career systems. Share your thoughts on the changes in the comments, and follow us on X, Bluesky, YouTube, and Instagram.
