Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls has a five-part single-player mode, and each chapter will follow one of the fighter’s main teams. The campaign, called Episode Mode, was written by comic book creator Kieron Gillen.
Each story will have its own artist, giving the chapters a distinct comic-book identity. The presentation also uses DualSense features, bringing the controller into the story sequences instead of keeping the campaign as a simple series of fights.
The episodes will also include boss battles against The Promoter and The Champion. Both characters are obscure additions to the Marvel Tōkon cast, and the official game account confirmed that the Champion serves as the looming threat connecting the five stories in its Episode Mode announcement.

Gillen brings a long background in comics to the project. His work includes Immortal X-Men and Star Wars: Doctor Aphra, giving the campaign a writer with plenty of experience handling large casts and superhero stories.
The single-player structure adds another layer to a fighter already built around team battles. With each group receiving its own story and visual style, Episode Mode should give players a reason to spend time with the roster outside traditional matches.
