Sony Puts GTA 6 on the PS5 Welcome Screen and Gives the PS App a New Look

The PS App icon changed on iOS and in some Android regions, while Grand Theft Auto VI pre-orders will open on June 25 at midnight local time.

Sony has added a custom Grand Theft Auto VI start-up animation to PS5 that sends players to the game’s pre-order page. The logo now appears in the Welcome Hub widget when the console boots, so the promotion is front and center from the start.

The PlayStation Store is also filled out with GTA 6 trailers and pre-order links. That matches Sony’s wider messaging around the game, including its PS5 showcase push around Grand Theft Auto VI.

On mobile, Sony has pushed an update for the PS App on iOS and, in some regions, Android. The app itself opens the same way, but the icon now uses GTA 6 colors with Leonida palm silhouettes on the home screen.

Pre-orders for Grand Theft Auto VI will open on June 25 at midnight local time.
