Grand Theft Auto VI Will Let Players Visit Hundreds of Interiors in Free Roam
The reported count concerns small interiors, while Rob Nelson's controller demonstration moves from a date with Lucia and a gym visit to a gas-station theft.

Grand Theft Auto VI will let players explore hundreds of interiors during free roam, Rockstar North development lead Rob Nelson told Jason Schreier. The count should not be read as a promise that every building in Leonida will be enterable.
Rob Nelson has confirmed to Jason Schreier that the game features hundreds of interiors that you can go and explore in free roam

The narrower description comes through an X post by @videotech citing Schreier’s interview, rather than a direct Rockstar announcement. A screenshot shared on r/GTA6 credits a Bloomberg newsletter, though the visible link is truncated, and characterizes the spaces as small interiors.
Nelson’s controller demonstration put several uses for those spaces side by side. In-game Jason invited Lucia out, kissed her when she arrived, then walked with her in a park as they held hands. They drove to a gym, where Lucia ran on a treadmill and Jason did squats.
Nelson passed on robbing a bank after spotting too many guards, then took Jason to an ATM to deposit cash. At what appeared to be a gas station, Jason entered the back office, disabled an alarm, and stole money without alerting anyone. The sequence shows how some interiors can support active decisions, not just give players somewhere to step inside.
Rockstar has also discussed letting Jason and Lucia roam together or split up across Leonida, giving their free-roam routines room to vary.
