On June 24, Sony used the PlayStation Blog to say Grand Theft Auto VI will play best on PS5 when it launches on November 19. The post leans hard into the console’s feature set and frames Leonida as a fit for Sony’s hardware rather than just another multiplatform release.
The company highlighted DualSense haptic feedback, adaptive triggers, and the controller speaker, along with Tempest 3D AudioTech and the PS5’s fast SSD. Sony also pointed back to the franchise’s first PlayStation release in 1997, which gives the message a bit of extra history as the series heads toward another mainline entry.
Pre-orders will open on PlayStation Store on June 25 at midnight local time, and Sony says the Grand Theft Auto VI: Ultimate Edition is part of the lineup. Orders placed before November 20 will include the Vintage Vice City Pack, and anyone who pre-orders any edition will also receive a redeemable one-month GTA+ membership.
For players still looking at hardware, Sony points to direct.playstation.com where available, along with local retailers, for PS5 and PS5 Pro purchases.
