Prologue: Go Wayback! adds a fallback for rare terrain crashes
The June 19 fix switches future runs to CPU terrain generation after a GPU crash and lets players choose the method in Settings.

Prologue: Go Wayback! received a small bug fix on June 19, 2026, after the developer ran into rare crashes during GPU terrain generation. The game now checks for that failure and switches future runs to CPU terrain generation if it happens.
Players can still control the terrain generation method in Settings --> Gameplay. Auto checks whether the GPU can be used, while CPU forces the slower but steadier option.
Patch Notes
Small bug fix
We are seeing some rare crashes when generating terrain in the GPU, as mitigation step the game will detect if a crash happens and force CPU generation automatically on future runs.
The terrain generation method can be controlled in Settings –> Gameplay, ‘Auto’ will autodetect if the GPU can be used, and ‘CPU’ will force the generation to happen in the CPU (slower but more stable).
