On June 13, 2026, 11 bit studios marked the first anniversary of The Alters with a cheerful “Janniversary” message for players.
The team thanked the community for the bases built, the harsh conditions survived, and the many versions of Jan they had met over the past year. It also called out the screenshots, theories, speedruns, and challenge runs that have filled the game’s first year.

The anniversary post also highlighted a few of the game’s rarest achievements. A Quantum Singularity sat at 1%, Jan Complete at 1.1%, Integrity at 2.1%, New Perspective at 2.1%, and All By Myselves at 2.4%.
Looking ahead, the next expansion, Last Variable, will release on July 13. 11 bit studios said it has spent the year working on the DLC and said players will reunite with Jan Scientist in the next chapter of the story.
