Netflix’s New Animated Hit Set a Weekly Record KPop Demon Hunters Couldn’t Top
Swapped pulled 38.7 million views from May 4 through May 10 and finished as Netflix's most-watched title for that week.

Netflix’s Swapped has gone from a title that could slip past you to the streamer’s latest weekly winner. The animated feature debuted on May 1, then pulled 38.7 million views from May 4 through May 10 and finished as Netflix’s most-watched title across the service, including TV series.
That push also gave Swapped the largest seven-day audience any Netflix animated movie has reached so far, according to Variety’s tracking. For comparison, KPop Demon Hunters peaked at 30.1 million views in its best week, which means Swapped opened harder even if it does not have the same long run on the service.
The film’s cast includes Michael B. Jordan, Juno Temple, Tracy Morgan, and Cedric the Entertainer. Reviews have landed in the middle of the road, with a 67% critic score and 87% from audiences on Rotten Tomatoes. KPop Demon Hunters, by contrast, sits at 91% with critics and 99% with viewers on Rotten Tomatoes, so this looks more like a fast start than a pure word-of-mouth surge.
Netflix has already shown it is willing to keep leaning on the animated side of the catalog, with early sequel talks around KPop Demon Hunters already in motion. Swapped may not be the loudest release on the platform this year, but it clearly arrived with enough force to take the weekly crown.
