Battlefield REDSEC’s ranked ladder spells out the grind, the rewards, and the lobby rules

The Season 3 playlist will require Career Rank 5, charge RP by rank tier, and keep console-only and mixed PC squads in separate matchmaking pools.

Battlefield REDSEC Ranked Play will arrive with Season 3 on May 12 at 6 a.m. CT, and the mode will bring a separate ladder, RP-based progression, and stricter matchmaking rules to the battle royale side of Battlefield 6. The same update is covered in Battlefield 6 Update 1.3.1.0, while EA’s Ranked Battle Royale guide breaks down how the system works.

How the ladder works

Players need Career Rank 5 before they can queue for Ranked Battle Royale. Once unlocked, the mode runs on its own RP system, with placement, kills, and assists all feeding into the points you earn. Each match also carries an entry cost that rises as you move up the ladder. Rookie starts at 0 RP, Bronze costs 10 RP, Silver costs 20 RP, Gold costs 25 RP, Platinum costs 40 RP, Diamond costs 50 RP, and Master costs 60 RP.

The ranked path runs through Unranked, Rookie, Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum, Diamond, and Master, then ends with Elite Top 250 and #1 Elite. Most ranks use five divisions, and Demotion Shields help protect you after a promotion. Rookie, Bronze, and Silver each have one shield, Gold through Diamond have two, and Master has three. Elite Top 250 and #1 Elite work differently because they are based on overall RP by platform instead of fixed thresholds.

A leaderboard lives in the Ranked Hub under the Profile tab in the main menu, where players can check the Top 250, their own RP total, wins, and RP-per-match numbers. Leaving a Ranked match early comes with a hard penalty too. If you quit, you lose every point earned in that match and still pay the entry fee. EA said more sanctions for repeat quitters are coming in a future update.

Rewards and queue rules

Ranked Battle Royale uses two reward tracks. One set unlocks as you move through divisions, and the other is tied to your final rank at the end of the season. Early ranks lean on XP boosts, while later tiers add cosmetics such as player card backgrounds, icons, titles, stickers, weapon charms, weapon camos, parachutes, vehicle decals, and character patches. There is also a ranked challenge assignment that grants the S3 Indomitable Dog Tag. All Ranked rewards can be used across Battlefield REDSEC and Battlefield 6 Multiplayer, including BR, Gauntlet, Multiplayer, and Portal.

The end-of-season rewards are also clear. Rookie gets a 60-minute Career XP Boost, Bronze gets the S3 Ranked Bronze player card icon, Silver gets the S3 Scrapper weapon camo, Gold gets the S3 Ranked Gold weapon sticker and the S3 Skirmisher weapon camo, Platinum gets the S3 Ranked Platinum parachute and the S3 Warrior weapon camo, Diamond gets the S3 Ranked Diamond vehicle decal and the S3 Challenger weapon camo, Master gets the S3 Ranked Master character patch and the S3 Contender weapon camo, Elite Top 250 gets S3 Ranked Elite customization items and the S3 Eliminator weapon camo, and #1 Elite gets the S3 Ranked Champion sticker plus the S3 Ranked Champion player card icon.

Matchmaking is split by platform. Console-only squads will face only console players, while mixed squads with at least one PC player will be placed into PC matchmaking. EA says that setup is part of the Battlefield Labs in Live push. Rank limits also apply to squads, since players can only team up with and face opponents within two ranks of the highest-ranked squad member. That means Silver players can queue with Rookie through Platinum players, while Unranked players can only face Unranked, Rookie, and Bronze squads.
