Now that the official downtime has been announced, v9.40 is coming out tomorrow.
Starting on July 17 at 4 AM ET and (0800 UTC), all of the Fortnite servers will be down for the maintenance and deployment of patch v9.40. It is usually the same period Epic Games favors to release a patch, and that on a Wednesday.
