War Thunder’s 2.55.1.56 hotfix tidied up rudders, sound, and a few annoying progression issues
Gaijin Entertainment's latest War Thunder update fixed a naval rudder bug, swapped in more accurate gun audio, and addressed a rollback issue tied to modifications.

War Thunder received update 2.55.1.56 on April 14, 2026, and the hotfix focused on a small but useful set of fixes across naval gameplay, audio, and account progression.
The patch addressed a naval bug that left a ship’s rudder stuck in its last position after launching a scout plane. It also removed squad target designation from the weapon tracking camera view and capped invite rewards at three claims.
Patch Notes
Here’s the full set of changes in update 2.55.1.56, as posted by the developer.
Naval Vessels
- A bug that caused the ship’s rudder to retain its last position when launching a scout plane has been fixed. The rudder now returns to the neutral position.
Sound
- Aircraft machine guns LKk/42, Akan m/39, Akan m/39a — the firing sounds have been replaced to more closely match the fire rate of the guns.
Other
- The ability to designate a target for the squad from the weapon tracking camera view has been removed.
- A bug that caused the progress of some players to be rolled back some time after purchasing modifications has been fixed.
- Rewards for inviting players to the game can now only be received a maximum of 3 times.
That keeps this one firmly in hotfix territory, but the progression rollback fix should matter to anyone who had already run into it. Share your thoughts in the comments, and follow us on X, Bluesky, YouTube, Instagram.
