Where Tarkov’s Casus Belli Pillagers are hiding, and what you need to finish the task
The event task asks players to track down five Pillagers, take their masks, and turn three of them in to Ref.

Escape from Tarkov’s Casus Belli event went live on April 9 for both PvE and PvP players, and the opening task sends you after a new enemy type called Pillagers. The event only runs for a few days, so if you want the rewards, there is no real room to waste time.
The task is also named Casus Belli, and Ref hands it out once he is unlocked. Battlestate’s requirement is simple but strict: you also need to have wiped your account or created it after the November 15 release of Escape from Tarkov 1.0.
To finish the objective, you have to eliminate five Pillagers. They are part of this event and wear bulletproof masks, which matter because you must collect three masks and turn them in to Ref.
Here is where the Pillagers can appear:
Customs
- Bridge
- Stronghold
Woods
- Rundown Village
- Scav House / Checkpoint Road
Lighthouse
- Long Road
- Containers
Shoreline
- Island
- New Gas Station
- Railway
Interchange
- Scav Camp
- Hydroelectric Power Station
Pillagers are not pushovers. They move in groups of three to five, and they can swarm you quickly if you are underprepared. They also guard loot boxes, so if you are clearing the area carefully, there can be extra value beyond the task itself.
After that, Backup Plan comes next, which means this event has more work waiting once Casus Belli is done.
