Vince Zampella, head of Battlefield, killed in crash

Today is a sad day to find out that Vince Zampella, the founder of Infinity Ward and the current lead for the Battlefield franchise, died Sunday afternoon in a crash on the Angeles Crest Highway in California, according to reporting from Insider Gaming.

Local authorities say the collision happened on a stretch of the Angeles Crest Highway, further details on the crash have not been released publicly. Insider Gaming reported the news on December 22, 2025. There has been no official statement yet from Electronic Arts, Respawn Entertainment, or Zampella’s family.

Zampella was a high-profile figure in shooters for decades, known for co-founding Infinity Ward and later leading Battlefield development.
