Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis is a full reimagining of the original, due in 2026

At The Game Awards on Dec 11, 2025, Amazon Game Studios revealed two new Tomb Raider projects and confirmed that Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis, a reimagining of the original 1996 game, will arrive in 2026. The project is a collaboration between Crystal Dynamics and Flying Wild Hog and is being built from the ground up in Unreal Engine 5. The team calls it a reimagining rather than a simple remake or remaster, saying the new build will honor the original spirit while expanding storytelling and adding “new surprises.

The reveal trailer gives a clear look at the visual direction and tone of the game.

Crystal Dynamics says Legacy of Atlantis rebuilds key moments from the original, including the T-rex encounter, and retools puzzles and parts of the world that were limited by older hardware. The studio specifically mentioned reforged puzzles and expanded sections of the map that were never explored in 1996.

Alix Wilton Regan will voice Lara Croft, who previously performed in Mass Effect 3 and Dragon Age: Inquisition. Alongside Legacy of Atlantis, Amazon Game Studios also announced Tomb Raider: Catalyst, which is scheduled for 2027. Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis is confirmed for Xbox Series X, PS5, and PC in 2026. The announcement followed a recent Game Awards tease that pointed toward a Tomb Raider reveal at the show.
