Fallout 76 hits year seven with a new Burning Springs region, Walton Goggins as a bounty provider and more free content

The Appalachian Wasteland just turned seven and the official Steam post lays out how Fallout 76 has grown since launch and what players can expect next. The key news is a Westward map expansion called Burning Springs arriving in about a week, a new Bounty Hunting System, and a Ghoul bounty provider voiced by Walton Goggins from the Fallout on Prime TV series.

The post walks through the update timeline. At launch in 2018 players left the Vault and found an empty Appalachia. The 2020 Wastelanders update brought human NPCs back and set the scene for settlement building and faction stories. The Brotherhood of Steel story arc closed with Steel Reign. In 2022 the game introduced its first off map expedition to The Pitt and then Atlantic City a year later. The 2024 updates opened Skyline Valley and added Gleaming Depths, a raid that for the first time offered 4-Star Legendary gear.

The studio says 2025 continued that run of additions. Players could transform into Ghouls after heavy radiation exposure, enjoy new fishing spots, and use a fully overhauled C.A.M.P. Workshop UI that removed previous building limits. About a week from the post date the map expands again to the West with Burning Springs. That region brings a fresh questline and the new Bounty Hunting System. The post names a specific NPC role for the new system. Walton Goggins will voice The Ghoul who acts as the bounty provider for that content.

The studio emphasizes that all of this content has been delivered to players free of charge. The post also promises more work on performance and additional content for 2026. For players who missed some of the major additions. Wastelanders reintroduced human NPCs and faction storylines, Skyline Valley and Gleaming Depths added late game challenges and rewards, and the C.A.M.P. Workshop UI overhaul changed how base building works.

What this means for returning and current players is straightforward. There is new territory to see and new systems to test. The Walton Goggins casting is a cross promotion with the TV series and could draw attention from viewers who follow that show. The raid level rewards and free delivery of content also lower the barrier for teams that want high end loot without a paywall.

Three short videos accompany the announcement.
