Oblivion Remastered’s upcoming physical Deluxe Edition for PlayStation 5 (and Xbox) ships with the base game and both expansions on disc, but players will still need an additional download before they can actually play. That blunt confirmation comes from Bethesda in a newly posted FAQ article.
“The Physical Deluxe Edition comes in an amary case with a disc for Xbox or PlayStation and includes the following:
– Base game plus the Shivering Isles and Knights of the Nine story expansions, as well as the additional downloadable content: Fighter’s Stronghold, Spell Tomes, Vile Lair, Mehrune’s Razor, The Thieves Den, Wizard’s Tower, The Orrery, and Horse Pack Armor.
Additional download required to play the game.
– A code that grants access to Unique digital Akatosh and Mehrunes Dagon Armors, Weapons and Horse Armor Sets, as well as Digital Artbook and Soundtrack App”
“Internet will be required to download full game files and extras, but can be played offline after the initial download.”
The upshot is simple. The disc includes the base adventure and expansions, but the actual playable files require an initial download. After that initial fetch, players can use the game offline. If the idea of buying a disc that still needs an initial download puts you off, sound off below. Fans are already split about disc-first releases that require online setup.
