Bethesda’s upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 version of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered has arrived with an entertaining promotional video, but the clip has also reminded PC players that the remaster still needs attention. The game is scheduled to launch on Nintendo’s new console in August, while the PC version has not received a patch in more than a year.
The video brings back veteran voice actor Wes Johnson, who plays several characters across The Elder Scrolls series, including Oblivion’s default Imperial males. Johnson once again steps into the role of Sheogorath, the cheese-loving Daedric Prince of Madness, and records dialogue inside a sound booth while dressed as the character.
Sheogorath quickly turns the session into a small disaster. With help from an increasingly exasperated audio technician, Johnson’s character causes trouble and becomes confused about why he has to record lines he already performed. It is pure promotional silliness, but Johnson’s performance gives the video plenty of personality.
Players have also used the video’s comment section to point back to the remaster’s PC problems. Steam reviews continue to mention performance hitches while traveling through Cyrodiil, and the game still has a broad collection of bugs documented by the Unofficial Elder Scrolls Pages.
Some bugs have existed since the original 2006 release, while others are specific to the remaster. Bethesda and Virtuos released a couple of patches after launch, but update 1.2 was the last one mentioned in the source material and arrived more than a year before this August 2, 2026 report. Recent Steam reviews have fallen to a Mixed rating, although the game’s overall rating remains Mostly Positive.
The Switch 2 version will receive the spotlight in August, yet PC players would clearly welcome another round of fixes for performance and long-running bugs. Bethesda has not announced a new PC patch in the available information.
