New Datamine Hints at Halo Game Coming to PlayStation

A recent data mine has revealed listings for PlayStation-compatible Halo titles within the game’s API, pointing to a possible release on Sony’s platform. While no official announcement has been made, this discovery adds an interesting twist to the Halo franchise’s future.

Earlier, details emerged about several upcoming Halo projects, including a Combat Evolved remake, a new multiplayer title codenamed Project Ekur, and the next mainline game in the series. Now, a well-known dataminer has found evidence that at least one Halo game could launch on PlayStation.

Halo Datamine Suggests a PlayStation Release

Information comes from Grunt.api and RebsGaming, who have a track record of revealing Halo-related scoops. Grunt.api accesses the Halo API, giving early glimpses of unreleased content. According to their latest findings, a “new Halo title with PlayStation compatibility” appears in the API, also linked to PlayFab. This platform supports cross-platform features like progression and matchmaking.

PlayStation Compatible Halo Title Could be Project Ekur

The datamine also uncovered a beta title and a second Halo title with PlayStation compatibility, though details are scarce. The new Halo game might be Certain Affinity‘s Project Ekur, a multiplayer game reportedly spun off from the cancelled Project Tatanka battle royale mode of Halo Infinite. The beta and full release could be the two separate entries found.

Project Tatanka was handed to Certain Affinity and rebranded as a standalone multiplayer game built on Unreal Engine 5. RebsGaming mentioned the hope that announcements for Halo CE Remake, Project Ekur, and its beta would come during the Halo World Championship 2025 this October.

Halo Studios has confirmed that more information about the franchise and its next game will be shared later this year. Still, all this info is unconfirmed and should be taken with some skepticism. It’s kinda surprising to see Halo moving to PlayStation. Why now, after so many years of Xbox exclusivity?
