Dead Take, an upcoming FMV psychological horror game, will arrive on Steam on July 31. This game offers a blend of 3D exploration and full-motion video featuring real actors, centered around a mysterious mansion and audition tapes.

Players will look at a strange mansion, piecing together clues from spliced video footage recorded by various actors. The game mixes traditional 3D visuals for the environment with live-action clips that play a crucial role in solving puzzles and unraveling the story.

Wow, the cast is quite impressive. Neil Newbon, known for playing Astarion in Baldur’s Gate 3, and Ben Starr, who voices Clive Rosfield in Final Fantasy 16, headline the game as two actors auditioning for the same role, central to the plot.

Additional confirmed cast members include Jane Perry, Matt Mercer, Laura Bailey, Sam Lake, Alanah Pearce, Travis Willingham, and Connor Colquhoun. These actors bring experience from a variety of anime, video games, and web series such as Dragon Ball Z, Returnal, and very important Role. Their involvement suggests the story might be richer and more complex than initially expected.

The existing trailers have mainly focused on Newbon and Starr, but with this expanded lineup, many more characters could be involved, and possibly meet grim fates during the mansion exploration. Yikes, it sounds like the player will have quite a bit to uncover.

Dead Take is developed by Surgent Studios and published by Pocketpair Publishing. It will be available exclusively on PC via Steam. The game’s distinct approach to storytelling through FMV and its psychological horror themes may appeal to fans of narrative-driven games with a twist.
