Call of Duty 2025 Development Continues for Last Gen Consoles

If you’ve been grinding away on your trusty PlayStation 4 or Xbox One, there’s good news on the horizon. A recent report indicates that Call of Duty 2025 is being developed for these older platforms. So, if upgrading to a shiny new console isn’t in your plans just yet, you might still be able to enjoy the latest installment from the franchise without missing a beat.

CharlieIntel first shared this scoop, and it remains unclear whether the game will launch on them.

The speculation doesn’t stop there. CharlieIntel suggests that the limitations of these aging consoles could be part of why we’re not seeing “two big maps at the same time” in Warzone. It’s like trying to run a marathon in flip-flops; you can do it, but it won’t be pretty.

But why keep developing hardware that’s over a decade old? The answer lies in its popularity. Many players are still loyal to these systems, leading to mixed reactions across social media. One user voiced concerns about how supporting such outdated tech hampers progress in gaming. Studios having to support 12-year-old hardware is bad for the industry and holds back games’ full potential, they said.

On the flip side, another pointed out that plenty of gamers are still enjoying their old consoles, noting, “Crazy but not surprising. There are still a ton of people on there, and the game scales to low-end hardware.” Even Warzone has made its way onto mobile devices, proving that flexibility is possible.
