Marvel Rivals is smashing it right now! With its first season just dropping, players are flocking to the game like it’s a hot new restaurant in town. I mean, who doesn’t want to be part of that Marvel magic?
The numbers speak for themselves. On Steam, the launch day saw a whopping record high of 644,269 players. That’s a jump from their initial count of 480,990 at launch. Can you believe that’s about a 34% increase? Of course, weekends usually bring more friends into the mix so that we might see even more growth.
This surge made Marvel Rivals momentarily top the charts on Steam when CS2 was taking its break. It has consistently held its spot among the top ten games since it launched and is currently cozying up in the top five. And let’s not forget that many players are tuning in from China, which can shift peak hours quite a bit.
If you’re wondering how it’s doing on consoles, it’s also shining there! While we don’t have exact figures yet for Xbox’s charts, Rivals is sitting pretty as the #4 game on PlayStation behind legends like Fortnite and Call of Duty. It’s imposing when you consider all the competition out there.
Twitch isn’t left out either, loads of popular streamers have jumped onto ranked play. At times, Marvel Rivals has even been vying for attention with League of Legends, now that’s some serious clout!
Kudos to NetEase for crafting such an exciting start with this double-sized season packed with goodies, four heroes (hello Fantastic Four), three maps, and a $10 battle pass loaded with skins. Who wouldn’t want to show off their style while saving, or maybe ruining, the day?
I know some folks are comparing it to Overwatch, but let’s keep things honest, that game has been around for nine years! Breaking into multiplayer PvP these days is no small feat. Yet here comes Marvel Rivals, shaking things up and grabbing attention faster than I can hit “respawn.” It feels reminiscent of what we saw with Valorant or Apex Legends. Could it even surpass them? Only time will tell!
