Apparently, the NVIDIA App Negatively Affects PC Gaming Performance

Have you ever wondered if that flashy app from NVIDIA, with all its bells and whistles, is secretly gobbling up your precious gaming performance? Well, you’re not alone. This weekend, a little birdie chirped about some alarming findings regarding the NVIDIA App.

Did uninstalling the NVIDIA App boost the FPS for over 15%?

There’s a minor performance hit when you have that pesky app running, around 4-6%. Don’t pack your bags just yet, it’s nowhere near what some panic peddlers would have you believe! This isn’t exactly shocking when you think about it: The NVIDIA App is an extra layer running in the background. Sure, it munches on some CPU cycles here and there. But let’s be honest, if you’ve got Chrome open with twenty tabs or Discord blaring in your ear while recording gameplay… congratulations! You’ve officially entered “Performance Hit City.”

If you’re thinking about dropping that app like it was hot based on these tests alone, you might wanna reconsider. Uninstalling could only net you a couple of frames unless you’ve accidentally toggled something in the app that’s throttling your performance.

The NVIDIA App comes with nifty features like shaders or desktop recording options that could slow things down if enabled without realizing it. If you’re not using any of these tools, even after hearing my rant, why keep it around? I’ve already pinged NVIDIA about this little discovery, so why not? It’ll be interesting to see how they respond or if they even care enough to adjust things down the line.
